About Us

Welcome to Lazy D Farm, a family farm located in Ball Ground, Georgia. We currently raise Jacob sheep but also have Boer goats and Angora rabbits.

We are scheduling classes for 2012 for Rigid Heddle Weaving, Spinning and Felting.

Bring the Family for a great educational experience to the farm.  We host our annual “Sheep to Shawl” event in April.   Sheep to Shawl for 2012 will be held April 14, 2011, so mark your calendar.  We invite you to come see our sheep get their annual haircut -sheared.  Randy will be back this year to shear beginning at 10:30 - 1:00.   Step back in time with Members of the Appalachian Heritage Guild demonstrating old time skills and lifestyles of the Southern Appalachian culture along with historical artifacts for educational purposes.   See our Image Gallery for past Sheep To Shawl pictures.

A few skills demonstrated are:
Spinning Wool, Weaving, Butter Churning, Blacksmithing, Wood Carving, Candle Making, Old time Laundry, Soap Making, Quilting, Sewing, Chair Caning, Pottery, Woodworking

Preserving your garden’s bounty from one year to the next,
knowing exactly what is in your food and making special gifts for special friends are just some of the reasons for canning foods at home.  Canning is an important and safe way to preserve food…if it is done correctly.   Join us in July to learn how.  More information coming!
